Le Moulin de Ferrières, stamped "worthy of classification" in the inventory of the "Monumental Heritage of Belgium", has a remarkable collection of limestone rubble. |
|
Most of the elements that make up this architectural ensemble date back to the first half of the 18th century.
But the origins of the mill are much more distant, since its first mention in a historical source dates back to 1424... |
The Mill is currently undergoing a major restoration campaign in several phases, orchestrated by the Liège-based architecture firm Binario. The architects are seeking to create the mill of tomorrow, while respecting the heritage character of the place. The restoration work is being financed by the Commune of Héron with the help of Liège Europe Métropole, the Commissariat Général au Tourisme, the Province of Liège and the AWaP (Walloon Heritage Association).

In addition, le Moulin de Ferrières is very close to the listed site of the Saint-Hubert church,
built between 1600 and 1620 on the remains of a medieval sanctuary, and its cemetery
surrounded by an imposing fence wall.
